Joseph A. Morgan
Dr. Joseph A. Morgan holds a joint appointment in academia and the private sector. He is Chief Technology Officer for Lockard & White, Inc., a telecommunications engineering and project management firm located in Houston, Texas. He also holds the Victor H. Thompson Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University where he serves as the Associate Department Head for Operations. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas and a certified project management professional by the Project Management Institute. His major areas of interest include wireless networking and computer-based data acquisition/ instrumentation systems.
Morgan has been a senior consultant to private sector where he has been involved in several design, development and system integration projects sponsored by the FAA, USAF, and major airport authorities. While on faculty at Texas A&M, he established the Mobile Integrated Solutions Laboratory, a joint university-industry partnership developing hardware and software products for small form factor devices that leverage wireless connectivity in the medical, aviation, and law enforcement environments. Morgan was also a co-principal investigator and research engineer with the federally-funded Advanced Law Enforcement and Response Technology (ALERT) project.
Morgan served 22 years in the Air Force, including a tour of duty on the faculty of the Electrical Engineering Department at the US Air Force Academy. He has also served as the Director of Engineering for an engineering services company.
